What is full-day care?

Full-day care means a caregiver is with your loved one for most of the day. It suits people who are safe at home with support but shouldn’t spend long stretches of the day alone.

We also offer extended-hour care for days that need to run longer.

Who it’s for

  • Someone who is safe at home with support, but shouldn’t be alone for most of the day
  • Families who work during the day and want someone dependable there
  • People who need help with several parts of the day: meals, bathing, getting out
  • Anyone who does better with a familiar face, which we aim for whenever scheduling allows

What’s included

  • Companionship, conversation and activities they enjoy
  • Help with bathing, dressing and grooming
  • Meal preparation and help at mealtimes
  • Medication reminders
  • Light housekeeping
  • Errands and transportation to appointments

How Caringood approaches care

The same principles guide every care plan, whatever the schedule.

  • Non-medical, by design

Everyday support at home: personal care, companionship, meals, errands, transportation and reminders.

  • Built around their day

We learn their routines, preferences and what a good day looks like, then plan care around that.

  • The right amount of care

Hours are based on what your loved one actually needs, not on how many can be scheduled.

  • A familiar caregiver

We match thoughtfully and aim for consistent caregivers whenever scheduling allows, so trust can grow.

  • Reviewed as needs change

The care plan is reviewed and adjusted as your loved one becomes more independent or needs more help.

  • Local and accountable

A licensed Home Care Organization (CA HCO #494700078), BBB Accredited, based in Santa Rosa.

Questions about full-day care

How many hours of care will we need?

It depends on the person. Some families need extensive daily support; others benefit from more focused care. You don’t need to know before you call. We look at daily routines, personal care, family support, meals, transportation and safety, then talk through an appropriate schedule, and review it as needs change.

How much does care cost?

Cost depends on the hours and type of care your loved one needs. We aim to build a care plan around what they actually need, not the most hours we can schedule. Talk with our care team for current rates.

How do families pay for care?

Families may use private pay and, depending on eligibility and policy terms, may be able to use long-term care insurance or qualifying veterans’ benefits. Your insurer or the VA decides eligibility; we’re happy to talk through the options with you.

Will we have the same caregiver every visit?

We aim for consistent caregivers whenever scheduling allows, so your loved one can build a relationship with someone who knows their routines. We can’t promise the same caregiver every visit, and we’ll be honest with you when a change is needed.

What does a caregiver do during a full-day visit?

The non-medical support your loved one needs through the day: companionship, meals, personal care, medication reminders, light housekeeping, errands and transportation to appointments.

Not Sure What Kind of Care You Need? That’s Okay.

You don’t need to know how many hours, what service or what schedule you need before contacting us.

Tell us what’s happening, what your loved one can still do on their own and what’s worrying you. We’ll start there.
